Charles Dickens Oliver Twist will be sen in a new light when Avant Garde Dance open Dance Woking’s Autumn season with Fagin’s Twist at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 October.
Fresh from this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Fagin’s Twist is the untold story of a notorious and complex villain. It imagines Fagin in his youth, driven by greed and ambition in the face of overwhelming poverty. The streets are a place of little comfort and fairy-tale endings are hard to find in this poignant coming-of-age-tale.
The performance aims to flip your expectations of the five familiar characters, with Avant Garde Dance’s unmatched contemporary hip hop style.
Avant Garde DAnce was last seen at Party in the Park in July with Josh Smith, who plays the role of Fagin and is a former student of Kings International College, Camberley.
Sam McCaffrey, Executive Producer/Director of Dance Woking, said “This is a fantastic show, it has the feel of a mini West End Production and is a great introduction to dance theatre, a highly energetic performance mixing contemporary and urban dance styles”.
Dance Woking is presenting a series of professional dance companies at Rhoda McGa Theatre with the aim of building an audience for small to middle scale dance companies and bring great dance and dance theatre to Woking.
Dance Woking are looking for volunteers to help support forthcoming events.
