Mini Mela – A Community Dance Platform – Applications Open!

Dance Woking is hosting its first Mini Mela Festival – A Celebration of South Asian Cultures.

The festival programme opens on Thursday 23 February with Striped Sari, and has been curated by Amina Khayyam Dance Company, who are well known in Woking for their work with South Asian Ladies groups. The programme created for the Mini Mela features work not performed in Woking before and includes a cabaret evening with live music and comedy on Friday 24 February, films at Nova cinema (dates TBA) and closes with a Double Bill on Saturday 4 March.

Community Groups Needed!

As part of this festival, we would like to invite community groups to join us as we celebrate South Asian dance and culture, from Bollywood, Kathak to Bharatanatyam in what we hope will be a jam-packed platform, showcasing the best of South Asian dance in Woking & Surrey. The event takes place on Saturday 25 February at The Buzz Studio, Peacocks Shopping Centre, Woking.

Do you have a group that loves to dance and would like to take part or have more information on how to apply? If you are a South Asian inspired community group that would like to take part in this unique platform, or would like to know more please contact us and we can get the application process started. Additional information on the community dance platform can be found here

The closing date to apply to take part in the community dance platform is Friday 3rd February.
