Dance Woking celebrates 30 Years of dance focussed activity on Saturday 22 June

Join us on Saturday 22 June as we celebrate Dance Woking’s 30 Year of providing dance centred activities in Woking & Surrey. We will be in Jubilee Square, Woking Town Centre with a programme featuring opportunities to perform, watch & take-part in dance. 11.30am – 3.30pm.

At 11.30am we open with our first community dance platform featuring Bellytricks Belly Dance, Dance Woking’s Eastwood Dance Club sponsored by Freedom Leisure who represented Woking Borough Council at last weekend’s Active Surrey Surrey Youth games in Guildford, Alexandra Dance Company and Amala Dance

This will be followed by Maypole Dancing with Dance Woking, led by Nicky Norton; this is an opportunity to connect and have fun, no experience required!

At 12.30pm we welcome Levantes Dance Theatre with their fun and highly entertaining piece High Tea (with a twist)

Break: 1pm – 2pm

At 2pm we are back with Levantes Dance Theatre with their fun and highly entertaining piece High Tea (with a twist) opening the afternoon session.

2.30pm our second community dance platform featuring both dance and school groups; joining Bellytricks Belly Dance & Amala Dance is BKD Performers, Sythwood Primary School Dance Club, Jubilee High Dance Club and Broadmere Primary Academy Dance Club.

We close the celebration at 3pm with Maypole Dancing, led by Nicky Norton.

New Street Dance Club

A fun & creative dance club using urban dance styles

Thursday’s 5pm – 6pm

Open to children aged 10 to 14 years

Dance Woking’s new Street Dance Club will use different urban and street dance styles with a focus on having fun, learn some new moves and get fit in a creative weekly dance club.

Thursday 2 November until Thursday 14 December

The dance sessions will include warm up/cool down, choreography and also creative movement where dancers will be encouraged to get involved.

Holiday Club Bookings open

Dance Woking is delighted to be a chosen partner to Club4 to deliver Dance led activity this summer.

We will be delivering high quality dance led holiday clubs at three different locations this summer:

Mon 24, Tue 25 & Wed 26 July – Lakeview Community Centre, GU21 3AG

Tues 1, Wed 2, Thus 3 August – The Maybury Centre, GU21 5HD

Wed 9, Thus 10, Fri 11 August – Horsell Village Hall, GU21 4SS

Wed 16*, Thus 17*, Fri 18** August – *Lakeview Community Centre, GU21 3AG, **Horsell Village Hall, GU21 4SS

Suitable for ages: 8 to 11 Years (Primary School Years 4 to 6)

The Hunky-Dory Summer Club provides a great way for children to have fun, make new friends, eat well and get creative. Our experienced and friendly team will lead a range of activities including creative dance, arts and crafts. There will be a creative food session during the three days, wellbeing activities and lots of fun games. The club encourages children to find new ways of expressing themselves.

Lunch will be provided, you will be able to choose from a selected menu, special dietary requirements can be catered for.

This programme is possible as a result of funding from Surrey County Council. Club4 is Surrey County Council’s (SCC’s) response to the government’s Holiday Activities and Food initiative, designed to provide healthy meals, physical activity and enrichment opportunities to children and young people in receipt of free school meals during longer holidays. Co-ordinated by Active Surrey for SCC, free places will be provided during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.

Amazing Day at Stanwell

Dance Woking partnered with Stanwell Events to support their fun filled multicultural family day on Sunday 4 June on Long Lane Recreation Ground. The event saw local residents enjoy the live entertainment and array of stalls, arts & crafts, soft play, face painting and refreshments. The ice-cream van proved a big hit on this hot sunny afternoon. Dance Woking led two Maypole workshops which were well received, and a popular activity for the whole family, participants joined in with energetic and enthusiastic dancing.

Stanwell Multicultural day hosted by Stanwell Events Community Project

Sunday 4 June from 11am to 3pm

A fun filled day for all the family! Performance and workshop with Dance Woking and Stanwell Youth Club, a fun ceilidh led by Folk Dance Remixed plus Sonia Sabri Company in the Princess and the Peacock walkabout. There is also free arts & crafts, a soft play area and Big performance tent
