What Summer Tea Dance – It’s Disco Time
When 13th of August
We are super excited to introduce Disco as part of our New Online Summer Tea Dance Season!
Join us online on Thursday 13th of August at 3pm – 4pm to have a lot of fun learning and dancing Disco!
Disco is a genre of dance music and a subculture that emerged in the 1970s from the United States’ urban nightlife scene. Its sound is typified by four-on-the-floor beats, syncopated bass-lines, string sections, horns, electric piano, synthesizers, and electric rhythm guitars.
This weeks Tea Dance will be led by Emily Neighbour & Kate Finegan. Emily will be introducing the Disco steps whilst Kate will provide a seated version of the movement. Emily Neighbour is a community dance artist working in a wide range of settings in Surrey and West London. She graduated in Dance Studies from the University of Roehampton in 2016 and has since been leading contemporary and creative dance for all ages. Emily’s aim is to create a fun and supportive environment, as an experienced dance teacher she is sensitive to the needs and challenges of older dancers and will provide options to adapt movements to make them accessible for everyone taking part. Kate completed her training with a BA (Hons in Dance Theatre) from Laban then worked as a freelance dancer in regional contemporary dance companies. Specialising in Dance for Health, particularly for the frail elderly, those with Dementia and Parkinson’s, Kate regularly teaches dancers from 3 to 96 years old. The emphasis within these sessions is to have fun and enjoy dancing in the company of others, but keeping in mind social distancing rules.
