‘Rocking All Over the Park’

Party in the Park – Saturday 8 July 2017

This year, the party will be ‘Rockin’ All Over the Park’ as Woking pays tribute to the late, great Rick Parfitt from Status Quo.

Woking is celebrating the life and achievements of two of the greatest musical exports ever to come out of the town by throwing a retro 60s and 70s themed party, and everyone is invited! This year’s theme was chosen in honour of Rick Parfitt from Status Quo who tragically died on Christmas Eve 2016 and celebrates the achievements of Paul Weller’s world famous band The Jam.

Dig out your tie-dye, fire up your flares, flick back your hair and get ready to indulge in a whole day of love, peace and rock and roll at the most hotly anticipated summer party in the County.

This is a chance for the baby boomers to take the whole family on a trip down memory lane and introduce their grandchildren to a taste of what life was like as they were growing up in the swingin’ sixties and psychedelic seventies.

The Woodstock of Woking offers something for everyone with a smorgasbord of music, dance, drama, comedy, workshops, great food and other cultural activities, from a wide range of local bands, professional artists and community groups. Dance Woking will be once again curating the dance element featuring an eclectic mix of local dance groups and professional dance companies, giving visitors a chance to watch, perform and take part.

The popular Children’s Zone will be returning with workshops and activities to delight and excite all ages from Punch and Judy, Circus Skills, music making, theatre and themed make and takes. Shoppers can browse a range of unique trade stalls in the ‘Chill-out Field’. The outdoor big screen is back and this time it’s bigger than Audrey Hepburn’s beehive at a whopping 100 square meters! It will be groovier than a smoking hot lava lamp and cooler than a bowl of pink angel delight.

Chill Out Field Tea Tent

A chance to either enjoy some tea and cake and watch or have a go and try some different dance styles, whether you have taken a dance class before or not, all are welcome. Dance Woking has programmed a variety of difference dance classes across Woking Park, designed to be fun and provide a taster, Woking has a wealth of different dance groups offering different styles of dance, to learn more about the different opportunities go to Dance Woking’s new Dance Directory where both the community and professional groups are featured.
